Morphological Evaluation of the Local Genotypes of Broad Bean (Vicia faba L.) for Yield Attributes under the Nilgiris Condition

The broad bean (Vicia faba L.) is the predominant and oldest domesticated cool-season food legume in world next to chickpea pea. present study was carried out evaluate performance of 20 accessions (named from Vf 1 20) Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India conditions. It developed randomized block design with three replications during year 2022. Observations on quantitative traits viz., plant height (cm), number branches per plant, days 50% flowering, maturity, pod length width pods cluster, seeds pod, 100 seed weight (g), yield (g) were recorded fo-r each genotype. Substantial genotypic variations observed for all attributes under investigation. Based mean performance, genotypes 2 (273.67), 8 (245.83) (234.67) have highest green outperforming other genotypes. Their outstanding terms length, 100-seed major factor contributing their superiority yield. Since show wide range variation taken study, they can be effectively utilized breeding programmes varietal development bean.
